Marshal Positioned in the Visionaries Quadrant in E-Mail Security Boundaries 2008 Report
Market Wire, September, 2008
Integrated email and Internet content security
provider Marshal announced today that it is positioned in the Visionaries
Quadrant in Gartner, Inc.’s Magic Quadrant for E-Mail Security Boundaries
report.(1) The report evaluated 20 companies.
“We are pleased to be included in the Visionaries Quadrant,” said Ed
Macnair, Marshal CEO. “We believe the placement is indicative of our clear
vision of the market and our strategic direction regarding our
best-of-breed MailMarshal product portfolio.”
MailMarshal SMTP is an award-winning email security solution that unifies
email threat protection, content security, policy enforcement, compliance
and data leakage prevention into a highly scalable, flexible,
easy-to-manage solution. It acts as an email gateway, powered by an
unrivalled Defense-in-Depth Anti-Spam Engine, filtering all incoming and
outgoing email at the perimeter.
“MailMarshal consistently delivers 99.5% anti-spam detection straight out
of the box, with no tweaking. Customers old and new, and returning
customers, rave about MailMarshal’s spam filtering effectiveness and data
leakage prevention,” said Macnair.
“Deep content filtering is built-in and integrated into MailMarshal, giving
customers anti-spam and anti-malware protection plus compliance and
comprehensive data leakage prevention. Our inbound and outbound
functionality, our comprehensive and flexible dictionary support, and our
advanced email encryption capabilities are all impressive strengths,” he
continued.
MailMarshal is currently available in three delivery models: software,
appliance and SaaS. A virtual appliance will be announced by
year-end.
-- MailMarshal e10000 is a "best of both worlds" email security appliance
that combines the ease of installation and low administration overhead of
an appliance with the flexibility, scalability and depth of functionality
of the MailMarshal SMTP software.
-- MailMarshal Service Provider Edition is a business enablement solution
for Managed Service Providers and Internet Service Providers, allowing them
to offer hosted email content security services to any size business and
SOHO customers. It combines email filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus, anti-
pornography, anti-phishing, policy compliance, email archiving and
reporting into a centrally managed, highly scalable architecture.
-- MailMarshal for Exchange is a powerful, feature-rich internal email
filtering solution for Microsoft Exchange Server. It monitors and controls
internal office email content that travels within a company to ensure a
safe, productive working environment and compliance with acceptable use
policies.
-- MailMarshal Secure Email Server is a dedicated, policy-based secure
email solution that provides encryption, digital signing and deep content
inspection of inbound and outbound email messages. It operates with any
email gateway that can recognize S/MIME encrypted email, and automatically
updates contact details and secure certificate credentials for encryption
contact via a centralized server.
Macnair further commented, “Marshal remains ahead of the market with our
initial and primary focus on information security, not simply spam, and
with our TRACE (Threat Research and Content Engineering) security analysts
who constantly monitor and respond to Internet security threats.”
TRACE services are provided as part of standard product maintenance that
includes updates to Marshal’s unique, proprietary anti-spam technology,
SpamCensor. TRACE analyzes spam, phishing and Internet security trends and
provides frequent automated updates to Marshal customers. It also provides
“Zero Day” security protection against new email and virus exploits the day
they emerge. The TRACE website is located at www.marshal.com/trace .
Macnair said, “Our roadmap remains squarely focused on meeting emerging
customer needs. Look to Marshal in the near future for a virtual appliance
and a host of innovations that will be announced at a later time.”
